March 5, 2009More than 350 local commercial, industrial and municipal energy users are slated to learn more about energy efficiency at National Grid’s Regional Energy Efficiency Conference at Turning Stone Resort & Casino Conference Center on Tuesday, March 10. During this free event, attendees will receive expert advice in nearly all aspects of energy use, with a specific focus on proven ways to reduce operating costs through the efficient use of electricity and natural gas.
The National Grid Regional Energy Efficiency Conference will begin at 8:30 a.m. with an overview of the company’s energy efficiency programs and rebates. Throughout the day, participants will benefit from the presence of nearly 50 local vendors who supply a wide range of energy-saving products and services. Expert-led break-out sessions will provide larger businesses and municipalities with an in-depth look and training on Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) lighting, building controls, motors and drives, steam, compressed air, and other building systems. Smaller customers will benefit from expert presentations appropriately geared towards building system energy efficiency.
Susan M. Crossett, Vice President of Energy Solutions Services in Upstate New York for National Grid, said the Regional Energy Efficiency Conference, was organized in response to several inquiries from local business owners, who have expressed an interest in learning more about energy efficiency techniques and products.
“National Grid is committed to assisting our customers – both large and small – in reducing their carbon foot prints and saving money by wisely managing their energy usage” Crossett said. “The Regional Energy Efficiency Conference is an excellent opportunity to bring local business owners together with energy efficiency experts and product vendors. This way, we can all work together through the power of action to make a collective impact.”
While the Regional Energy Efficiency Conference is available to local commercial, industrial and municipal customers free of charge, advanced registration with National Grid was required at www.thinksmartthinkgreen.com.
For business and residential customers interested in learning more about saving energy and about valuable rebates for the installation of energy efficient products, National Grid offers a variety of energy efficiency tips and information on its web site, www.thinksmartthinkgreen.com. In addition, National Grid recently introduced Floe, a virtual polar bear (nationalgrid.com/floe), who can help site visitors analyze and measure the environmental effects of their routine daily activities, including eating, drinking, driving and making energy choices for the home. Visitors can interact with Floe or befriend another virtual polar bear and learn how positive environmental acts will help protect the environment.
