National Grid
Whole Building Assessment Initiative If you would like to develop an energy management plan for your building but don’t know where to begin, National Grid’s Whole Building Assessment Initiative is a good place to start. In partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR® program, National Grid is helping its commercial and municipal customers improve the energy and financial performance of their buildings. Through the Whole Building Assessment Initiative, National Grid takes a holistic look at the energy usage of buildings. This approach, which takes advantage of synergies across building systems, has a number of benefits, including the packaging of efficiency measures to achieve greater energy savings while realizing an overall payback that meets your needs. Combining these recommendations into an energy management plan provides direction and helps to rally support across your organization. Under this initiative, you will gain an understanding of the building’s energy performance, identify ways to make the building more efficient (across all fuels) and obtain ideas for addressing occupant education and facility staff training.

The Whole Building Assessment Initiative provides:

  • A benchmarking score for the building using ENERGY STAR’s benchmarking tool –Portfolio Manager.
  • Recommendations for appropriate energy-efficiency measures.
  • Analysis of project economics.
  • Maximizing benefits of incentive programs.
