About Our Old Bill
Our service bills are "unbundled," or itemized. Your total bill is broken out into separate line items for various services so you can see the costs for such services. The image of a 'sample' bill is shown below as an example with an explanation of the charges immediately following. To view current prices, please review Service Rates and Supply Costs. Any charges are only illustrative examples and are not a forecast of the market price.
Delivery Services
All customers are billed these charges even if they buy their electricity from an alternative energy supplier.
You can shop for an alternate supplier, for this portion of your service. View the most current list of energy suppliers in our Energy Choice section.
Charges shown in this area of the bill can be for our Basic Service or another supplier's charges utilizing our billing services. In the later case, the bill will note your chosen supplier.
If you do not choose an energy supplier, we will continue to supply your energy (under our Basic Service) until you select an energy supplier. To view our prices for supply service, visit Basic Service.
Delivery Services
All customers are billed these charges even if they buy their electricity from an alternative energy supplier.
- Customer Charge—The portion of your bill that includes the costs of providing services, such as metering and billing. These are fixed costs and are not affected by the actual amount of energy you use.
- Distribution Charge—The cost of delivering energy to your location.
- Transmission Charge—The cost of moving electricity over high voltage power lines from a generating plant to our service territory.
- Transition Charge—The charge that allows us to recover payments to our wholesale supplier for terminating its wholesale arrangements.
- Cable Surcharge—The cost of the underwater cable used to deliver electricity.
- Energy Conservation—The cost of providing energy efficiency programs for our customers.
- Renewable Energy—The cost of the implementation of renewable energy programs
