About the Project

The Lawrence #1 substation, constructed in 1944, requires a rebuild due to its deteriorating condition and limited capacity. To address these issues and to meet growing electric demand, the current substation will be retired, and a new substation will be built adjacent to it.

To incorporate the new substation, upgrades are required to much of the existing overhead infrastructure (poles and wires). The work completed on this project will enable us to serve our customers more reliably throughout Lawrence.

Project Benefits:

  • Improving Reliability to the City of Lawrence
  • Increase load capacity to accommodate overhead upgrades
