Heating Electrification Program
Our Heating Electrification Program assists customers who are electrifying their space conditioning and domestic hot water with high-efficiency heat pumps.
Key Requirements*
Customers:
- Electric customers with average demand >250kW
- Eligible rate codes include commercial rate classes that pay into the Systems Benefit Charge.
Technologies:
- High-efficiency heat pumps
- Energy recovery ventilators installed with qualifying heat pumps
- Heat pump dedicated outdoor air systems
- Heat pump chillers and heat recovery chillers
Projects:
- Must be a full-load project: heat pump system meets the design heating load for the area or zone it serves
- Must be in an existing building, with exceptions for ground source heat pumps and heat pump water heaters in new construction
- Minimum equipment performance requirements apply

Six key benefits to heat pumps:

Energy Efficiency
Heat Pumps are an energy-efficient alternative to traditional HVAC solutions like furnaces and air conditioners. They don’t use fossil fuels and can be three to four times more efficient than furnaces and help you lower your overall energy usage.

All-in-one Solution
Heat pumps are an all-in-one solution for both heating and cooling. They work to keep things warm during cooler months, and cool during warmer months. Buildings use one system, rather than multiple, to maintain comfortable indoor climates year-round. As a result, heat pump solutions can potentially reduce your overall system footprint.

Clean Solution
As more companies focus on reducing carbon emissions, it’s important to look for cleaner, more sustainable solutions. Since they don’t use fossil fuels as an input, high-efficiency heat pumps offer cleaner heating and cooling and emit fewer greenhouse gases than legacy HVAC systems.

Flexibility
There are often both ducted and non-ducted options available. This means you may be able to install heat pumps while using existing ductwork—saving your time and resources on your installation. There are several different solutions available, so you can choose the heat pump technology that works best for your business.

Comfort
For everyday operations, heat pumps provide a comfortable environment by heating and cooling individual spaces or whole buildings. Zone control allows for greater control and more uniform temperature distribution.

Health
Many heat pumps can improve indoor air quality with built-in HEPA filtration systems that remove pollen, dust, and other allergens. And because heat pumps are emissions-free and require no fuel storage, they are a cleaner, simpler solution year-round.
