Rudy Wynter is the President National Grid’s New York business, leading the company’s regulated energy delivery portfolio that provides electricity and natural gas service to 4 million customers across the state. The company’s New York service area spans from Niagara Falls to the forks of Long Island. 

In his role, Rudy is responsible for the financial, operational and customer-focused performance of the New York business and manages the relationships with regulators, government officials and the communities National Grid serves. Rudy is committed to our New York customers and to partnerships with our stakeholders to ensure the delivery of safe, reliable, resilient and affordable energy, as well as to advancing National Grid’s and New York’s clean energy goals.

In his more than 30-year tenure at National Grid and its legacy companies, Rudy has served in several senior and operational roles, most recently as Chief Operating Officer of the company’s Wholesale Networks & Capital Delivery business. In that role he oversaw businesses with an asset base of $5 billion, including one of the largest electric transmission networks in the northeast, New England’s first large-scale battery energy storage system, generation plants, and the development and construction of complex capital projects.  

Rudy also has held senior National Grid leadership positions in Shared Services, Customer Operations, Strategic Planning, Engineering and Operations. 

He serves on the boards of GridWise Alliance, the Partnership for New York City, the Brooklyn Historical Society, and the Ascendant Group, a Bermuda-based, publicly traded provider of energy and energy-related services. Rudy is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the American Gas Association, and the Edison Electric Institute.  

A native of Brooklyn, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Pratt Institute and an MBA from Fordham University.
