Niagara Falls Multi-Unit Property Adds EV Charging Stations

News-Image

Niagara Falls Business Development & Tourism Coordinator Allen Booker, left, and Niagara Falls Mayor Robert Restaino cut the ribbon to mark the completion of the new EV charging stations.

Through National Grid’s EV Make-Ready program, an incentive of more than $10,000 was provided to aid construction of four Level 2 EV charging stations in Niagara Falls at Parkway Condominiums, making it the city's first multi-unit property with EV charging.

The milestone was celebrated on June 15, where a ribbon cutting ceremony was held in the main parking lot of the condominium complex at 151 Buffalo Ave. to unveil the charging stations, which are available to tenants, tourists and the general public. Livingston Energy Group, a Schenectady-based EV charging station solution provider, partnered with National Grid to secure grant funding for the project, which was completed in May.

The new stations are within walking distance to Niagara Falls’s tourist attractions, including Maid of the Mist, Niagara Falls Observation Tower, Seneca Niagara Casino, and several hotels.

“EV charging stations at multifamily properties are a significant amenity to attract and retain tenants who otherwise couldn’t charge at home,” said Whitney Skeans, National Grid’s Senior Program Manager – Electric Vehicles, New York. “In this instance, the four publicly accessible plugs will connecting tourists to local businesses to help sustain the economy and drive its development."

National Grid’s Upstate New York EV Make-Ready program can help fund up to 100 percent of costs related to installing electricity infrastructure for approved projects. Initiatives such as this demonstrate how National Grid collaborates with customers toward our shared clean energy transition and are central to the company’s Project C initiative, which was created to inspire change and create a more equitable future for our customers and communities.
