National Grid continues to give back to the communities it serves by supporting organizations that provide services and resources to the area. One of the most recent ways the company has demonstrated this commitment is through a $30,000 grant to YMCA Camp Chingachgook to replace a camper cabin that was originally bult in the late 1950s.

The new cabin is built to accommodate additional campers and increase access to overnight camp experiences, year-round school groups, and family programs. It is also more insulated than older cabins and there is an opportunity to add heaters at a later date to increase use in winter months. The grant is part of National Grid’s Project C, an initiative to support workforce development, community investment, clean energy and sustainability.

“Camp Chingachgook is a treasure in our region, set in a beautiful location on the eastern shore of Lake George,” said Brian Sano, National Grid regional executive, eastern New York. “In addition to offering world-class summer camp programs, Chingachgook provides the community with year-round weekend programs, retreats, school programs and special events. National Grid is proud to be able to help the YMCA offer these experiences to more individuals and families by supporting the construction of these larger cabins,”

“We are so grateful for the Project C grant and National Grid’s support in helping us replace our lakeside cabins,” said Jine Andreozzi, executive director of YMCA Camp Chingachgook. “This new cabin will not only allow for more campers to enjoy the wonders of Lake George, but it will also provide a space for expanded programs in the fall and spring. YMCA Camp Chingachgook is committed to providing a safe space in the outdoors for people of all ages and backgrounds and this project helps us in that goal. From improved lighting to new bunk beds - our campers are loving their new home away from home.”
