Earlier today United Way of Buffalo and Erie County thanked National Grid for making a positive community impact following the December 2022 blizzard.

The company was lauded for its generosity and stepping up during an emergency to offer solutions and assistance to a struggling population who were faced with damages to their homes, lost wages, food insecurities and more.

In a small ceremony several companies were recognized by the United Way for their recent community contributions. National Grid was honored with the United Way’s “Building New Solutions to Old Problems” award for its leadership and assisting more than 250 families who used funding after the blizzard for medical expenses, food, home repairs and other household needs.

United Way officials thanked National Grid for the contribution that served as the foundation for the United Way Community Resilience Fund, which was designed to provide emergency response services. Additionally, National Grid funding helped launch a pilot scholarship workplace program that aids six area nonprofits that have experienced increased demand for services in recent years.

Caring for local communities, compassionately addressing challenges that customers face and collaborating with community partners are guiding principles of National Grid’s Project C initiative, which seeks to transform communities and ensure an equitable future for all customers.
