Making a Difference on Earth Day in Upstate New York
Categories:
The week of April 22, National Grid celebrated Earth Day by supporting community events across Upstate New York. Employees from Buffalo to Albany rolled up their sleeves to volunteer at lakes, ponds and parks where they worked together to clean trails, plant trees, move mulch and more.
Eastern New York
Around 50 eastern employees, including those at top, cleaned up about 10 miles of the Empire State Trail in Amsterdam on April 26 and the City of Amsterdam Veterans Park
Central New York: Dozens of National Grid employees joined the Onondaga County Parks Department to plant trees in Onondaga Lake Park. The trees will contribute to the natural beauty of the lakeside park, and provide wind and noise barriers between the park’s archery range and a nearby road. In addition Central New York employees participated in cleanups at Syracuse’s Webster Pond, Beaver Lake Nature Center in Baldwinsville and the Utica Zoo.
Western New York: Employees partook in several events, including litter removal at Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge, sprucing up Tyler Street Community Garden in Buffalo, and providing landscaping assistance at the Buffalo Zoo. Employees also pitched in to plant trees and repair flower beds throughout Buffalo.
