Hadley Exhibits’ recent, robust LED lighting technology upgrades at its Buffalo manufacturing facility will reduce energy costs and brighten the workspace for the company’s artists. The advanced LED lighting project was supported by a $94,000 National Grid energy efficiency incentive, and included the replacement of fluorescent bulbs and other light fixtures that were approaching end of life. The new work environment now boasts improved light quality and efficacy and includes motion and occupancy sensor controls in areas such as storage rooms and loading docks, to maximize lighting energy savings.
Hadley Exhibits is one of the world’s foremost 3D exhibit companies. Founded in 1923 in Buffalo, the company’s artists and storytellers specialize in the design and fabrication of trade show and museum exhibits and ships them worldwide. Around 75 people work at the facility, which is located at 1700 Elmwood Ave.
“We’re grateful to have worked with National Grid, as we would not have undertaken a project of this scope without their support and the incentives that they provided,” said Hadley Exhibits President and Owner Ted Johnson, who worked with National Grid Energy Efficiency Specialist Robert Compise to develop and execute a plan to install the new light system and are continuing conversations about other energy-savings opportunities. “The LEDs will reduce our electricity bills by nearly $40,000 annually and just as important, they brighten the workshop; making it easier for our staff to work on details and other finer points of the exhibits for our global customer base.”
“We work closely with companies like Hadley Exhibits to learn and better understand the needs of our customers and help them find ways reduce energy use,” said National Grid Regional Director Ken Kujawa. “Hadley Exhibits is one of several companies with whom we’ve worked to lower costs and keep them low so that they can grow and build their workforces.”
Funding for the Hadley Exhibits project was provided through National Grid’s Energy Efficiency Program, which includes financial incentives for commercial and industrial customers who reduce electricity costs. Incentives are available for customers who install energy-efficient lighting, controls, HVAC equipment, motors/electronic speed controls and other systems that reduce energy use and/or enhance productivity.
