National Grid once again partnered with Feeding NY, a program sponsored by the United Nations Global Youth & Excellence Leadership Program, to provide Thanksgiving meals to 2,500 Long Island families. For the second year in a row, National Grid employees volunteered to help ensure families facing food insecurity could celebrate the holiday with dignity.
More than 200 employee volunteers packed meal boxes filled with turkeys and fresh food at National Grid’s Melville office, distributing them to food pantries and community organizations across Long Island.
Since its inception, Feeding NY has provided over 120,000 meals statewide. This year alone, the program delivered 6,000 Thanksgiving meals, including 3,500 on Long Island and 7,500 in New York City.
“We were grateful for National Grid’s partnership and their volunteers’ dedication,” said Joanne Jones, Executive Director of GYEL Program and Feeding NY. “Together, we ensured thousands of families could experience the comfort and connection of a Thanksgiving meal.”
“Food insecurity is a major issue on Long Island, and it’s something we witness every day,” said Ross Turrini, COO, Gas New York, National Grid. “We’re committed to addressing it year-round. It’s truly heartwarming to see our employees working alongside high school students, volunteering to help our neighbors. Together, we’re not just providing a Thanksgiving meal—we’re helping create lasting memories for those in need.”
National Grid is proud to work alongside community partners to support families in need, and with 2,100 employees on Long Island—many active volunteers—the company remains committed to making a positive impact all year long.
