National Grid has been named a recipient of the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Emergency Response Award. Presented annually to EEI member companies, the award recognizes heroic recovery efforts by electric companies following service disruptions caused by extreme weather or other natural events.
Winners were selected by a panel of judges through a nomination process. The awards were presented during EEI’s Spring Board of Directors and Chief Executives Meeting.
“Keeping the lights on – and restoring power quickly after severe weather – requires extraordinary preparation and the dedication of highly skilled workforces,” said Drew Maloney, President and CEO of EEI. “EEI is proud to recognize National Grid for its exceptional response. Congratulations again on being named an EEI Emergency Response Award recipient.”
The Recovery Award reflects the professionalism and hard work of National Grid’s storm recovery teams, who prepare year-round to ensure they’re ready to face tough conditions to serve their customers and communities. It recognizes National Grid New York's exceptional work following a Halloween 2025 wind event, a wind and ice event on Thanksgiving Day, a Dec. 18 wind and snow event, and Winter Storm Ezra, which impacted a large portion of the US on Dec. 28-30.
“This recognition from Edison Electric Institute is a tremendous honor and a powerful reflection of the dedication, professionalism, and teamwork our crews demonstrate every day,” said Sally Librera, President, National Grid New York. “We’re proud of the work our employees perform on behalf of our customers, often in challenging and dangerous conditions, to restore service safely and as quickly as possible. We thank EEI for this acknowledgment and for recognizing the critical role that all utilities play in supporting communities when they need us most.”
