If your point of connection is less than 300' from National Grid's Distribution (pole at the road), you can opt for an overhead service lateral, or a customer owned underground service lateral.

Option 1: Overhead Service Lateral option - you are provided an allowance of 100' for an overhead service lateral, anything beyond 100', there would be additional cost if a pole was required to be set. Option 2: Customer Owned Underground Service Lateral option - you would be required to trench and install the underground wire from the pole to the point of connection at your house. You would be responsible to own & maintain the underground service lateral. There would be no cost from National Grid to connect this service at our distribution pole.

If your point of connection is more than 300' from National Grid's Distribution (pole at the road), you can opt for an overhead service or underground service.

Option 1: Overhead Service Lateral option - you are provided an allowance of 100' for an overhead service lateral, anything beyond 100', there would be additional cost if a pole was required to be set. Option 2: Primary Underground Service Lateral option - you would be required to pay for the cost of the company-owned primary underground cable LESS a 100' Overhead Allowance credit. You are responsible to trench and install conduit (if required), however National Grid would be responsible to own and maintain this underground service lateral.

For Overhead Service Lateral projects that require less than 100’, your project will not incur additional costs.

For Overhead Service Lateral projects that require 100’ – 300’, your project costs will range between $1,460 - $8,650.
