For residential and business customers
Why connect your data?
Residential - When you’re looking to lower your home energy costs, third-party companies offer tools and analysis to help you save money. National Grid has partnered with authorized third parties that can help you better understand your home’s energy use, including your costs to operate appliances and heat or cool your home. You can also explore the potential savings of switching to an electric vehicle, adding solar panels, and more.
Business - When connected with your business' data, third-party companies can offer your business personalized tools and analysis to help you manage your energy costs. Green Button Connect makes it easy to connect your account with your energy management software, analyze the ROI of potential energy upgrades with usage data, and more.
We follow the Green Button Connect standard and DataGuard Energy Data Privacy guidelines to ensure your utility data is kept secure during the data connection process.
How does it work?
The most secure and easy way to connect your data is automatic. This process saves you from having to download and email your data to third parties.
Two ways to connect your data with a third party
- Connect data through your National Grid portal
- Click the “Manage data connections” button below.
You’ll sign in to your account and be taken to the “Manage my data” section. - Here, you'll be able to manage your existing data connections and make new ones.
- Once logged in, click the “Connect data with a third party” button. You’ll be taken to the directory of authorized third parties, where you can select your third party, and authorize connection. Your data will be made available to your selected third party in a variety of formats.
- You can disconnect, or manage your connections, at any time.
- Respond to a third party who requests a connection to your data
- Some third parties put the data connection link right on their website.
- Other third parties email or text you a link to connect your National Grid data to them.
- Either way, you’ll need to sign in to your National Grid account.
- After signing in, you'll be asked to authorize connecting your data to that third party.
- If you started on a third party’s website, sometimes, after you authorize connecting your data, you will automatically be taken back to that website.
Access your own data
