I135S-J136S Mainline Project
Project Overview
We are upgrading a section of the regional electric transmission system to improve reliability, communication capability, and long-term system resiliency. The project involves refurbishing existing transmission structures and installing new Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) along the 8.1-mile I135S/J136S Transmission Line.
- Replacing three existing structures with three H-frame structures, installing one Hframe switch structure, replacement of some existing electric conductors; and installing Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) within the existing Rights-Of-Way (ROW) easements
- Access way improvements and vegetation management efforts, when necessary
The Project will make upgrades throughout an 8.1-mile segment of overhead power lines that travel between Flagg Pond Substation in Fitchburg, MA and Pratts Junction Substation in Sterling, MA. All work is proposed within the existing ROW easement and National Grid-owned parcels.
