Permanent Restoration & Repairs Process

After work has been completed in your neighborhood, our team will restore areas affected by the work.

Once gas construction work is completed, our paving contractors will begin scheduling the restoration phase. A paving contractor will then complete the necessary repairs to your property, usually within 45 days of receiving the order. Sometimes, paving work may be completed on weekends or after hours due to scheduling timeframes.

While paving work continues throughout the year, it is weather-dependent, and projects may be paused temporarily for extreme weather events. Low temperature and inclement weather will impact winter restoration timelines. Wet weather and high temperature days will impact summer.

Please note that specialized paving contractors are used for different types of work. The crews will restore the roads with permanent paving in accordance with NYC DOT regulations and paving requirements. Work on roadways and sidewalks are often handled on separate days by separate crews.

From time to time, contractors from the City will be simultaneously scheduled to conduct work in the same area requiring restoration work. If these contractors begin work in the area before we can complete restoration, we will need to delay our restoration work until the other work is completed. Additionally, there are times when the City contractor has not yet begun their work, but they have permits in place, which prevents us from getting the necessary permits to conduct our restoration.

Repair Work Process: FAQs

If there is any damage done to your property, our crew or contractors will record and submit any work needed after their work is completed. There is no action needed from your end.

Underground gas work completed near the road, driveway or sidewalk may be left temporarily patched with a cold patch (which is a loose asphalt product) to ensure that the area is made safe until permanent repairs can be made.

During final restoration, these temporary materials will be dug up, removed and replaced with permanent asphalt or concrete to match the material that existed before we made the excavation.

Safety is our top priority. Along with our skilled contractors, we will take every measure possible to ensure the safety of the public and our crew while we complete the work. Crews will use work area protection, including traffic cones, utility work signs, and barriers to ensure the work is done safely.

We respond to gas emergencies 24 hours a day. If you smell gas, act fast and call 911 or our gas emergency line at 911 or 1-718-643-4050 or 911.
