Energy Infrastructure Academy

The EIA is an 8-week, 200-hour upskilling pre-apprenticeship program that prepares work-ready adults for entry- and mid-level union roles at National Grid.  It includes job readiness training, safety certifications, job shadow, mentorship, and hands-on learning opportunities so graduates can confidently apply for these roles.

Program Details

• Cohorts are held 2-3 times per year depending on projected business hiring
• Interested participants should apply through the Interest Form, and go through a program application process
• To be eligible, interested participants must be 18 years old or older, have a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, be able to pass a background check and a drug screen in accordance with the Safety Sensitive DOT regulations, and have an interest in working in the energy sector
• During the 8-week program, participants will receive a weekly stipend, full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at no cost to them, earn 3 industry-recognized credentials, and have opportunities for site visits, networking, job shadowing, and more

• The EIA builds a qualified and diverse talent pipeline for National Grid roles, enabling eligible graduates to enter full-time employment with opportunities for advancement and a long-term career pathway  

 

Community Partners

Our community partners are an integral part of our training program, providing recruitment and screening of interested participants, the first four weeks of training, and on-going case management and wrap-around support services.
