Energy Infrastructure Academy
The EIA is an 8-week, 200-hour upskilling pre-apprenticeship program that prepares work-ready adults for entry- and mid-level union roles at National Grid. It includes job readiness training, safety certifications, job shadow, mentorship, and hands-on learning opportunities so graduates can confidently apply for these roles.


Program Details
- Cohorts are held 2-3 times per year depending on projected business hiring
- Interested participants should apply through the Interest Form, and go through a program application process
- To be eligible, interested participants must be 18 years old or older, have a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, be able to pass a background check and a drug screen in accordance with the Safety Sensitive DOT regulations, and have an interest in working in the energy sector
- During the 8-week program, participants will receive a weekly stipend, full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at no cost to them, earn 3 industry-recognized credentials, and have opportunities for site visits, networking, job shadowing, and more

- The EIA builds a qualified and diverse talent pipeline for National Grid roles, enabling eligible graduates to enter full-time employment with opportunities for advancement and a long-term career pathway
