A typical construction timeline for this work is approximately 300 linear feet per work week. Our crews daytime work schedule runs from Monday to Friday. Please note that some work will take place overnight or on the weekend in accordance with permit stipulations.

No. This work will be managed so that service interruption will not be an issue.

Wards were political boundaries used in New York City between 1683 and 1938. These boundaries were used when Consolidated Edison (ConEd) and National Grid predecessor companies established gas service areas. The former 2nd  Ward of Queens is a portion of National Grid’s current gas service area.

Construction is expected to begin in late-winter / early-spring of 2022.  Under our current schedule, we anticipate completing this project in the winter of 2022.

Traffic will be impacted during construction along the project route. Our team is working with the NYPD to develop a Traffic Management Plan that will ensure the safety of the streets on which our work will take place and our worksites and mitigate traffic issues to the greatest extent feasible.

No. As this project will reinforce the existing local distribution system, the vast majority of work will take place within established utility corridors.

While our contractors will make efforts to keep disturbance to a minimum, there will undoubtedly be noise associated with this project. Most of that noise will occur while excavation is underway as contractors use heavy equipment to trench ahead of pipe stringing and installation.
