Work within the underground pit closest to Joyva and directly across from the Rivian Service Center entrance will also take place intermittently.  

The driveway to Rivian may be closed periodically during work hours. Cones and flaggers will be utilized on site to safely direct traffic and pedestrians around these excavations during work hours. All businesses are open during construction.

At the end of each workday, all excavations will be secured and plated for vehicle and pedestrian safety.  

Work will shift to the Ingraham and Porter intersection.

All vaults have been successfully installed (crane on site last week).

REMINDER: Crane on-site this week!

As part of our ongoing work in your neighborhood, a crane is scheduled to be on site on Thursday, July 8th, and Friday, July 9th. During this time, Ingraham Street will be temporarily closed to traffic while the crane is in operation. Thank you in advance for your patience.

Crews completed excavation of sidewalk trench toward Porter Ave – arborist onsite

  • Test pit service at 65 Porter Ave
  • Welding/prefabrication for strainer vault inlet
  • July 3 observed holiday – no work

Friday, July 3rd - OBSERVED HOLIDAY - NO WORK

Crews continue to work on the vault closer to Porter Avenue.

  • Excavated sidewalk trench from strainer vault toward Porter Ave – arborist onsite
  • Welding/prefabrication for district vault and strainer vault
  • Installed well points for sump pumps in district vault
  • Test pit Joyva factory foundation
  • Test pit on Porter & Varick Ave – confirmed DEP water issue was correct

Thank you for your continued patience as we progress down Ingraham Street. 

We appreciate your understanding as we work to complete this phase safely and efficiently.

Our contractor team, Danella, will be performing excavation closer to the Porter Avenue intersection. This work is being conducted in compliance with DOT requirements and is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance system reliability and support future operational needs. Cones and flaggers will be utilized on site to safely direct traffic and pedestrians around these excavations during work hours (Monday - Friday 8 AM - 4 PM).

Please note: there will be no interruption to service for our customers. What you may expect during construction:

  • Full roadway closure on Ingraham Street during work hours.
  • Excavations. Digging within the roadway and sidewalk. All excavations will be plated during non-working hours.
  • Traffic Impacts. Work will be in the sidewalk and roadway with traffic flaggers on site to assist pedestrians and motorists.
  • Safety. For your safety, please do not enter work zones and be mindful of work zones during and after hours.

We will begin mobilizing and delivering materials to the storage area at the corner of Ingraham Street and Porter Avenue.

April

Beginning in May, National Grid will begin upgrades to existing infrastructure on Ingraham Street between Varick Ave. and Porter Ave. This project will help improve service reliability, efficiency, and overall safety. The project will be done in two phases: 

Phase 1: Upgrade station on Ingraham St. btw Varick Ave & Porter Ave (see map). 
Phase 2: Retire station on Porter Ave and Johnson Ave. (anticipated in 2027).
