2024

Our team will be completing the final restoration of Chester Road. The Lynbrook Remote Control Valve Project is now complete. We thank you for your understanding and patience as we completed this important infrastructure upgrade.

Due to temperature restrictions, restoration work on Chester Road will begin in Spring 2024. Crews will return in April to complete restoration of affected roadway and sidewalks on Chester Road, Merton Avenue, S. Village Ave and Oceanview Road.

This restoration work will include:

  • Impacts to driveway access and street parking on Chester Road.
  • Excavation and removal of concrete panels along Chester Road.
  • Curb to curb mill then asphalt pave for Chester Road, spanning from 80 Chester Road to the intersection of Merton Ave.
  • Mill and pave of small sections of S. Village Ave and Merton Ave.
  • The pedestrian ramp in front of 38 Merton Ave will be replaced during paving.
  • Mill and pave will include the parking spots North of the Police Auxiliary Building.
  • Replacement of curbs along Chester if they were damaged or removed during construction.

Be on the lookout for further communications from National Grid or our contractor Bancker Construction.

On June 20, we began utilizing a generator and pump on site and running that generator overnight to complete de-watering operations that are critical to our Lynbrook RCV project. Noise emanating from this generator and pump will not match the noise level of regular construction activities, only a low hum. The generator will be running from 6/20/23 through 6/24/23 at 5PM then again from approximately 7/10/23 through 7/14/23. We do not anticipate these de-watering measures will create a disturbance, and our crews are taking steps to minimize the potential for noise impacts to the community whenever possible, but if you do have questions regarding these overnight activities, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Stakeholder Management Team directly at (631) 213-2009 or box.liprojects@nationalgrid.com.
