Charge Smart NY Smart Meter Trial – Limited Time Offer

The EV Charge Smart Plan helps make charging your electric vehicle at-home affordable, flexible, and environmentally friendly!

This plan provides financial savings to charge your EV at home during off-peak hours 11:00 pm to 7:00 am daily, when energy costs are lower. This Smart Meter Trial is limited to small number of customers. Sign up below to see if you are a good fit for this trial!

Once you complete the form below, our team will check to see if you are a good candidate to participate. This Smart Meter Trial is currently expected to operate until September 2026, but may be extended.

Participants will be eligible for incentives totaling over $100, including:

A $25 per-month incentive per National Grid account number, applied as a credit to your National Grid electric bill.*
A $25 one-time enrollment incentive applied to your National Grid bill. **

* While uncommon today, customers who source electricity from a supplier other than National Grid will receive an incentive of $21.33 per month.
** Enrollment incentives are paid once per participating National Grid account number.

Eligibility:

You may be able to participate in the Charge Smart NY Smart Meter Trial if you:

Are a National Grid Residential customers on the SC-1 rate who cannot participate in the program through a compatible EV or Home Charger. Check compatible equipment.
Have a Smart Meter at home and consent to participate in Charge Smart NY by using your Smart Meter.

Background

National Grid has offered the Charge Smart NY Program to customers who charge their EVs at home since 2024. Due to EV charging data requirements, this program has previously been limited to customers who charge using vehicles or home chargers that are compatible with the program. We are now launching a trial to leverage Smart Meters to detect EV charging sessions and verify performance under the Charge Smart program, which allows the program and bill savings to be available to more customers than ever before!
