Commack RCV Project
The project is scheduled to start in June 2026, with expected completion in Fall 2026. Regular construction updates, including any schedule changes, will be posted on this project website.
Primarily on the property of Cumberland Farms at the corner of Commack Road and the LIE N Service Road. The work zone will encompass a portion of the sidewalk on Commack Road adjacent to Cumberland Farms. Be mindful of cones, jersey barriers and flaggers near the work zone. This project is being done in conjunction with the Dix Hills RCV project on the opposite side of the LIE, adjacent to the Park and Ride.
Excavation within the parking lot and grass area of Cumberland Farms, as well as the adjacent sidewalk on Commack Road. Installation of upgraded underground infrastructure, including a new Remote-Control Valve (RCV), quality assurance testing, and restoration of any disturbed areas once work is complete. This project is being done in conjunction with the Dix Hills RCV project on the opposite side of the LIE, adjacent to the Park and Ride.

No. This work will be managed so that service interruption will not be an issue.
Construction is set to start in June 2026 and will continue through Fall 2026. Restoration of the impacted area will occur once construction work is complete. *Construction schedule subject to change.
Yes. Traffic will be impacted southbound on Commack Road during work hours. Flaggers will be on site to mitigate traffic issues to the greatest extent feasible. Periodic temporary lane closures on Commack Road and the LIE N Service Road for specific construction activities may be necessary.
The vast majority of this work will take place on the Cumberland Farms property at the intersection of Commack Road and the LIE N Service Road.
While our crews will make efforts to keep disturbance to a minimum, there will be noise associated with this project. Most of that noise will occur while excavation is underway as contractors use heavy equipment.
