About the Project

In coordination with numerous city, state, and federal agencies overseeing our projects, our crews are upgrading the saltwater pump house (SWPH) at National Grid’s Greenpoint Energy Center with a new elevated facility.

The SWPH can use a nearby saltwater source as a supplemental fire suppression system that protects the entire Greenpoint Energy Center. This modernized fire suppression system is designed to withstand storms and other environmental impacts, improving the resiliency of critical energy infrastructure.

As part of National Grid’s net-zero commitment to reduce its own emissions, the facility will include solar panels on the roof to supplement electricity for the building. The new SWPH is expected to be completed in Fall 2027.
