FAQs: Lake Ronkonkoma Upgrade

The Lake Ronkonkoma Upgrade project will upgrade existing regulator station in the Lake Ronkonkoma area.

Phase 1: Installation of upgraded regulator station and heaters within the Lake Shore Plaza mall and within the roadway on Cenacle Road.

Phase 2: Removal of existing regulator station on Rustic Road and Smith Road.

The benefits of these upgrades include improving the system’s integrity and ability to support the customers of our local distribution system.

We are making investments to upgrade the infrastructure system in your neighborhood to ensure customers receive safe and reliable service. This project will build a more reliable local energy system by reinforcing local infrastructure.

No. There will be no interruption to service.

Most of this work will be done within the Lake Shore Plaza parking lot, but there will be some excavations on the roadway on Cenacle Road. When these excavations are not open, they will be plated. When working on Cenacle Road traffic will remain open with flaggers to assist traffic around the work zone.

No. All work will be done in the public right-of-way (ROW).

While our contractors will make efforts to keep disturbance to a minimum, there will be noise associated with this project. Most of that noise will occur while excavation is underway as contractors use heavy equipment to trench ahead of infrastructure installation.
