About the Project

In order to meet the electric needs of Micron Technology, Inc., National Grid is seeking a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need to construct new 345kV underground transmission service laterals between the Clay Substation and Micron’s proposed semiconductor fabrication plant located in Clay, New York.

The proposed project includes the construction of eight (8) new 345 kilovolt (“kV”) transmission voltage service laterals, from the Clay Substation to four (4) proposed Micron facility Fabrication Areas, for a total of eight (8) circuits ranging from approximately 1.0 miles to 2.07 miles. The Project is located exclusively in the Town of Clay, NY to serve the Micron facility.

The Project is intended to serve the proposed Micron Technology semiconductor manufacturing campus in Onondaga County, New York, which is one of the largest economic development projects in United States history — a transformational public-private partnership with Micron Technology to build a cutting-edge semiconductor manufacturing campus in Central New York.
