Building Insulation and Weatherization

Reduce energy usage and improve comfort.
Weatherization can include a variety of different upgrades, including insulation, air sealing, and weatherstripping. The end result is a building with less heating and cooling leakage that is more energy efficient and provides greater comfort.
Why weatherization?
- Improve the efficiency of your HVAC systems by keeping the cold air out in winter and the cool air in during summer
- Increase the sustainability of your building and decrease your maintenance costs
- Save energy and create a more comfortable and productive working environment
Take advantage of financial incentives on building envelope improvements.
Before installing insulation and other weatherization improvements, it’s important to address potential safety and access barriers such as asbestos, vermiculite, and knob-and-tube wiring.
Eligible Rebates Include:
- Removal of vermiculite or asbestos
- Removal of knob-and-tube wiring
- Knob-and-tube wiring verification
If vermiculite or asbestos is present, it must be abated before insulation work can begin. Likewise, knob-and-tube wiring, an outdated electrical system, must be remediated for safety prior to insulation upgrades. These pre-weatherization rebates help building owners remove barriers, making it easier and more affordable to move forward with energy-saving weatherization projects.
Eligible Rebates Include:
- Attic, wall and basement insulation
- Attic air sealing
- Weatherstripping around windows and doors
Not every energy-efficiency upgrade fits neatly into a standard incentive category. That’s why we offer custom incentives. These projects often require additional energy analysis or technical assistance to quantify savings and determine incentive eligibility. Custom incentives help ensure that innovative, complex, or specialized projects still receive financial support for improving energy efficiency.
