Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)
Applications for HEAP open on October 1, 2026 for the 2026-2027 season.
The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), also known as fuel assistance or formerly LIHEAP, helps income-eligible households pay a portion of their energy bills from November 1st to April 30th.
Eligibility is based on household size and annual household income, which is the combined gross income of all persons living in a household. Household income cannot exceed 60% of the estimated State Median Income. View the eligibility guidelines to see if you qualify.

HEAP applications open October 1, 2026 for the upcoming heating season (November 1, 2026 – April 30, 2027). Households must renew eligibility every year.
Apply online at https://toapply.org/MassHEAP or in-person through your local Community Action Agency, which you can find on the MASSCAP website.

If you qualify for HEAP, you may also be eligible to receive a discounted rate on your energy bill, based on household size and income.
