1 Important Alert(s)

Storm Alert

7:00 p.m Update: Our field force has restored service to more than 113,812 of 118,508 customers affected by the destructive thunderstorms and powerful winds that swept across the state on Thursday. Restoration continues as crews will work around the clock until all customers have had their service restored.  The storm brought down trees, tree limbs and wires, causing damage to poles, transformers and other critical electricity infrastructure.  We urge everyone to always assume any downed line is live and dangerous, to stay far away, and to keep others at a safe distance. If you see a downed power line, please call 911 immediately and then contact us at 1-800-867-5222 so our crews can respond as quickly as possible.

Submit Your Reading

If we don’t get a regular reading of your energy use, we must estimate your monthly charges. Use any of these methods to submit your monthly meter reading and keep your bills accurate:

  • Send an email with photo of your meter or your meter reading to: UNYmeterreads@nationalgrid.com. See the below images for reference:

  • Provide your meter reading over the phone. Call us Monday-Friday, 7:00am-7:00pm at 1-800-642-4272 and follow the prompts.  At the main menu, say "meter reading" and then choose your options by saying: "Provide a reading" or "Date for next reading".

  • Make an appointment to get a manual reading. Call 1-800-642-4272 and ask the customer service representative to set up an appointment to have your meter read. You may need to explain that you are currently receiving estimated readings. Once your appointment is scheduled, you will receive a call 30 minutes before the technician arrives to complete the reading.
