About the Project

Beginning in February 2026, our crews and contractors will be installing upgraded infrastructure in two phases along Metropolitan Avenue and in Forest Hills, Queens. Please note, there will be no interruption to service for our customers.

Phase 1 involves installing a new underground infrastructure in sections along Metropolitan Avenue starting at 74th Avenue and ending at 70th Drive.

Phase 2 will build a new gate station and install heaters within National Grid property on Metropolitan Avenue and 70th Drive

Forest Hills

Project Benefits:

  • Reliable Service During Peak Demand
    • This project ensures that homes and businesses always have the energy they need, even during the coldest days or times of high demand.

  • Supports Local Growth
    • As more people move into the area and new businesses open, this upgrade makes sure the system can handle the extra demand without interruptions.

  • Safety and Maintenance
    • By adding a new source of supply, we can safely perform maintenance on other parts of the system without affecting customers.
