Energy Savings Programs
EmPower New York Income-Eligible Free Weatherization Program
EmPower New York is just one of many ways we work with program partners to provide no-cost energy-efficiency solutions to income-eligible New Yorkers. This program is offered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). Whether you own your home or rent, a participating contractor will complete a no-cost home energy assessment to identify if your home would benefit from free energy upgrades such as:
- Installation of high-efficiency lighting
- Attic and wall insulation
- Replacement of old, inefficient refrigerators and freezers
- Water-saving showerheads
For more information, please call 1-877-NYSMART (1-877-697-6278) or visit the EmPower website.
|Household Size||Maximum Gross Monthly Income||Maximum Gross Annual Income|
The current income guidelines for EmPower New York are set at 60% of the state median income.

With Solar for All from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), income-eligible households can subscribe to community solar at no cost. Program participants receive monthly credits on their electricity bills—up to $15 a month—and there are no upfront costs, fees or payments to participate.
Participation does not affect any existing electric bill credit or reduction you have. You may already be eligible for Solar for All if you participate in HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program), SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families), EmPower New York or another electric bill assistance program.
