11:00PM Update: As high winds and heavy, wet snow continue to impact Upstate New York, National Grid crews are responding to power outages caused by downed limbs, trees, and poles. Our crews will continue to work around the clock responding to additional outages. Forecasts continue to call for high winds, cold temperatures, and potential heavy, wet snow in regions across Upstate New York. Prepare for power interruptions by charging your mobile devices. Also, never touch downed power lines; always assume they are carrying live electricity.

EmPower+ Program

The EmPower+ program provides no-cost energy-efficiency solutions to income-eligible New Yorkers. This program is offered through a partnership with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). Eligibility is based on your household size and annual household income (see guidelines below).

EmPower+ Income Eligibility Guidelines

Whether you own your home or rent, a participating contractor will complete a no-cost home energy assessment to identify if your home would benefit from free energy upgrades such as:

  • Installation of high-efficiency lighting
  • Attic and wall insulation
  • Replacement of old, inefficient refrigerators and freezers
  • Water-saving showerheads
