Phase One Overview
The Solar Phase I initiative was aimed at increasing the prevalence of renewable energy in Massachusetts. By developing 5 MW of solar generation in prominent locations and on otherwise limited use land, this initiative strengthened the Commonwealth’s commitment to integrate renewable energy into all parts of the distribution network while minimizing impact on the environment.
Hilldale Avenue – Haverhill
Located on a former manufactured gas plant (MGP) on Hilldale Avenue.
NEDC – Sutton
Located on the rooftop of the New England Distribution Center.
Rover Street – Everett
This project is located on a former manufactured gas plant site and is connected to National Grid’s pilot program for Load Congestion Relief.
Victory Road – Dorchester
This project is located next to the famous multicolored liquefied natural gas tank.
Railroad Street – Revere
This project is located next to an active substation on Railroad Street.
National Grid Headquarters – Waltham
Located on the roof of National Grid’s US headquarters.
